The controversial 1969 Judge from Inline Tube with the underhood spray they claim is correct. I've never seen another like this one. Was this a plant specific thing?

I have NEVER seen this before. I owned an original paint CR 1969 Judge years back and the under hood was painted black. This car has been discussed on these pages years ago so I won't comment further except to say the word controversial is an understatement.

Underside of hood was painted black. Most everyone I have documented had some level body color overspray under the hood. I have never seen one perfectly clean black. Light colors showed more than dark. Some had little overspray, some a lot. All depended on the guy behind the gun. I have seen original paint white cars with virtually no visible black. Is the one above overdone? Good chance, but it highlights the fact that the underside was not masked and shows the contrast.

I have an original paint white car and the under hood is all black though there is a bit of white over spray near the edges but nothing to the degree of the CR Judge painted above. The over spray is barely discernible but definitely there. Unfortunately many have tried to rewrite what is and is not correct. Looking at original cars and old photos along with creditable source books is the best way to help determine what is and is not correct.

Not to get off subject, but a few years back, got to go over a very low mileage Pontiac built 69 Judge. Car cover had not been off since mid-eighties and fully original including exhaust and tires.

Took a picture of under the hood for this very reason

Hanger points have been well documented, overspray would be dependent on how far around the side of the hood the guy with the gun decided to go. These were not on the cars when painted but were hung as were the fenders with the painter facing the hood, nose up.

Gary, do you have any pix of the '69 Liberty Blue w Blue Gut "survivor" Judge that sold earlier (within past year? ) for $27k ? Didn't you assist with the sale of that one too? I couldn't find any saved pix for that Judge.
