Default '69 Bonneville Safari Progress!

Here she is more or less as she looked when I brought her home in October of '05. She sat patiently for almost a year before I did much of anything. I go her registered and on the road in September of '06 and put on a bunch of miles just to get feel for it.

In January of '07 we got her ready for the body shop. All of the trim that was left on her was removed and off she went.
Gotta love that crazy weather- my son is wearing a T-shirt outside on January 6th... In Connecticut!

We decided on a custom 2-tone paint scheme so those body side moldings had to go. The holes were welded up and studs ground off.
The new paint got jambed in.

Stopped by there today and she's all in color! It took a little while as Pete had to do another resto before he finished this one- at least it was a Pontiac . The '71 'Bird is visible in the back of one of the pics above.

She still needs to be buffed out and striped but we're getting there!

I think you picked a nice color scheme for that wagon. What kind of wheels are you going to put on there? Rally IIs?

Thanks! And thank's to Mike for helping with the coclor selection. I can't wait to see it all back together.

As for the wheels... I have a set of Rally's for it but I decided that the non-stock paint required a set of non-stock wheels. Sooooo... My 5 year old daughter and I looked at just about every after market wheel available today. The only ones she liked were the American Racing "Hopster" and the full polished Torque Thrust. While I like the TT's it just seems like alot of cars have them today so I'm about to order a set of 16X8 Hopster's and 235/60/16 tires for it. I'd go bigger on the tire if we were't going to be driving it soooo much this summer. Got to keep it functional.

Thanks for the compliment. I can't wait to bring it home and put it together. It's supposed to be done this weekend... we'll see. Just got of the phone with Summit, got wheels and tires on the way.

I've got two cars with green interior. I think that you HAVE to go with green on the outside too- at least on part of it. I think your '65 would look sweet with a similar two tone job but with a real dark metalic green upper and silver lower.

Talking She's Home!

Brought her home from the paint shop today!
The kids are stoked, they both give Bonnie two thumbs up!
I started putting on some of the trim and my 5 year old daughter was out there helping me. I love that they are part of this and they feel like the cars are theirs too and take pride in them.

Cool Bling!

Some more shots from today. The wheels came and I couldn't wait to put them on.
Oh and a detail shot of the stripe as it's almost impossible to see once you get a few steps away.

Jeremy-

Real nice job, is that the same guy that did the FAST car?

I'll have to get his contact info from you for when the Ventura needs paint.

Bonnie made her official debut last night at the Marcus Dairy cruise (even though she's not really done ) She sure seemed to attract alot of attention.

The exterior is pretty well done, just need to install the wheel well trim. The interior is only half thewre right now. Picked up a brand new Pypes exhuast from Ccass and the PY guys down at E-town on Friday and all sorts of mechanical odds and ends to take care of.

More improvements!
Lastnight while at the Marcus Dairy cruise Bonnie got some old school striping on the tail gate.

Then today the crappy old exhaust came off and a nice new 2 1/2" Pypes X system went on with some Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers. Sounds much better with out being too loud. There isn't a system made for the big wagons so Ccass gave me 3 sets of tail pipes to see what fits. I ended up using the Impala tail pipes but I had to cut out a section to get them to fit.

one thing i'd like to see done to finish your car off is a set of 68 prix hidden headlights installed in it when you get the time. i think that'd set the paint scheme off and give it a custom look that'd have people scratching their heads when they looked at it.

it looks great as it is.
