I have a 1964 catalina with 67 400 automatic.
My questions are 1: Should i put on a set of long branch manifolds (which i have) or just get some headers (which Indian adventures makes). If i go with some headers how much are long branches worth. Mine have never been put on a car and are powder coated with all the hardware and oil adapter. Question 2: I have Flowmasters 3 chambers on and would like a little beefer sound. Should I go with the two chambers or a different brand( my flowmasters sound a little tinny) all together and which do some of you guys run. thanks for any help Karl Madcharo St. Paul, MN http://public.fotki.com/ponchopio/1964_pontiac_catali/ |

I have noticed a very tinny sound with the 3 chamber mufflers. I have 2 chambers on both my cars and the have a much tougher sound to them. I live by the 2 chamber tone. Is your car a column shift or console shifted car? If Indian Adventures is finally making a set of headers for a column shifted big car Im gonna freak. I have a set of original bare long branches that need to be cleaned up that I bought from a friend for $100. I would figure that yours with all necessary hardware should fetch at least $300.

bonneville joe,
I do have a column shift car. Just got an email from indian adventures saying it should'nt be a problem for the headers to fit. So freak out. I think i might sell my long branches and get some headers. karl madcharo 64cat
quote:
Originally posted by bonneville Joe: I have noticed a very tinny sound with the 3 chamber mufflers. I just got an email from Dick, he said that they didn't have a header to fit a '66 big car. He recommended doug's. I went on Doug's site and it stated that the D521 won't fit a column car. argh....

What are you going to do with those 3 chambers? Id like to try them on a car and see what they sound like.

I'd be interested in the manifolds. If you decide to sell, give me a yell!
