I put this rebuilt muncie trans back in my GTO and I can't get it set up right. I thought I had the levers in the right position, but I only have a reverse gear now and can't get it in neutral but it was in neutral on the bench prior to putting the shifter on after the trans was in the car. Does the reverse gear push in and out also? I have the two nuts on the cover on the front of the trans in the vertical position. I want to get this working so I can enjoy this weekend driving this car. Any pictures would be helpful also. Thanks

The bottom of your shifter (where the shift arms hang down) will have a notch in the main body. Line up the levers and put a 1/4" drill bit through the notch (it will go through a similar notch on the other side. Make sure the trans is in nueatral (???). Now adjust the shift rods so they slip easily into the arms on the shifter. Tighten everything up and remove the drill bit. Should shift like a hot knife through butter. How the hell do you spekll "not in gear"?
