Hey guys I own an 84 Silverado and I have found a 77 Grand Prix SJ out at the junk yard with a 400 and 6x-8 heads on it. I'm thinking of buying the 400 to rebuild and stick in my truck. What all am I going to have to do to get this engine into my truck. Also would it be easier to get a B.O.P. Trans. or just get an adapter to mount to my trans?

I put a 1975 pontiac 350 in my '83 c-10. Had to make the mounts, used a 3/16" plate with hole pattern for a firebird engine mount, and holes to bolt to truck mounting brkt. The engine mounts will be behind where the truck brkt are. The fuel line from the tank is on the wrong side for pontiac mech pump, you'll have to run some hard line under the engine,or use an electric pump. I converted a th350 to a long tail shaft, but if you have a 700r4 OD I'd use an adapter plate.
I would change your u-joints on the drive shaft to a heavy duty unit(like spicer),thats the only problem I had in my truck, had to replace both within the first two months.(love that pontiac torque) Oh! One more thing you'll have to run the main power wires (that on cheby go to the starter) to the positive terminal on the battery, and reroute the ignition wire to the drivers side (cheby's is all backwards) LOL.
