Is there a rebuild kit out there for the 4 piston front disc? Also how about rotor? I hear that these are the same that were used on corvettes?

I bought a seal replacement kit locally at a place called autozone. they have the outer rubber seal and the rubber that goes around the piston, they were pretty cheap in cost. The problem was that the inner bore where the piston moves in and out was pitted to much. To make a long story short, they leaked still after i did this. I even honed out the chamber and smoothed out the pistons. Ended up buying new calipers(resleaved) from performance years. couple hundred bucks a piece but they dont leak. They do need your core, they send them out to a place in ohio i believe. Matt

I just went thru this process on my '68 Firebird with the 4 piston calipers.
I bought the "rebuild kit" from Autozone ($20)also. It is only the rubber seals. Unfortunately these were not the issue for mine. My calipers were already rebuilt/resleeved and the cylinder walls were scored. Also, the pistons themselves were rather pitted. After replacing the seals, it leaked just as bad.

I searched a while for replacment calipers and found the pricing about the same $179 - $189 each + $100 core charge. Ulitmately, I pucharchased one from the Paddock (Sorry PY, their price was the same, but no core was required).

If just your pistons are pitted, you can replace them as well (about $25 each) in addition to the seal kit. (I just found pistons thru GMPartsdirect.com for the Camaro for $12.50--not positive these are the same diameter pistons though)

I threw away 2 cores that I could not give away. I still have 3 or 4 pistons in the boxes, in a drawer in my dining room. Can't give those away either, or find anyone who is not so much of a tight a$$ as to not balk at the concept of paying for shipping! Needless to say I was fustrated enough with 4 piston calipers to convert to a '69 single piston.

Just send them out to Corvette restoration places and have them rebuilt.

This is what was the origin of Stainless Steel Brakes Corp. Today, they continue to rebuild these calipers for Corvettes and other GM cars that were fit with these calipers in the late 60s.
