Are the e heads d port exhaust?

They are round ports.

KRE heads are D-port, I believe.

They are d-ports rotated 90 degrees and in the round port location.
They use round port headers. |

Headers and gaskets for the E-heads are characterized as round ports. The head itself is a D-port design, but the D is a flat floor, not on the side. It is an improved port design over the Pontiac round port heads.

So I guess if I got these I would new headers....Might be worth it to just get a set of kre's. thanks.

THE EDELBROCK HEADS FLOW 286 CFM OUT OF THE BOX, THE KRE HEADS FLOW AROUND 270 FROM WHAT IV HEARD, I WOULDNT LET THE COST OF HEADERS BE THE DETERMINING FACTOR IN WHAT HEADS I USE, IN MY OPINION THE EDELBROCK HEADS ARE BETTER, AS FAR AS OUT OF THE BOX PERFORMANCE, PLUS YOUR PERFORMER RPM INTAKE WORKS PRETTY WELL ON THE EDELBROCK HEADS

With his combo, the KRE's would be better. And I know for a fact you can run 9.30's with ported KRE's.

I agree there is nothing wrong with KRE's,bigger is not the sole determining factor on subject,port velocity,chamber design,parts compatability etc. it is so cool that we can discuss options like these now!I would use the KRE's on this one personally cause out of the box I think they are a better fit and leave plenty on the table for future growth!

The KREs look to have better low lift flow than the E heads. So unless you are spending a lot of time at .500 lift the KRE's look better.
Here are the posted lift numbers for the 85 cc KRE head and the 72 cc Edelbrock head. A 74 cc KRE is coming out next month or so, flow should be slightly higher. It would be interesting to check flow on the same bench so take this with a grain of salt. KRE EDL KRE EDL Flow Int. I think I'm going to go with the kre's. I gotta wait till january 28th to order them though (my house sold and that's settlement). I can't wait!
