bought my 69 gto with a chevy gm goodwrench 350 but was under the impression it had 350 horse but just found out it only has 260 is there any way to get cheap hp until the 455 is done or just not waste my time

I agree the cheby engine is not worth the time or money.

i was thinkin that but havent even started the 455 cause it will prob cost in the 2000 to 2500 range

I don't have a barnstorming 400 in my lemans, but it does sound and run good enough for me for a total of $1300.00 in the motor, even a bone stock 455 should be ample power in a early f-body. But as all have said save your money and wait.
