76 GP, no electric throughout car. Battery shows +12 V. Main cable to starter shows power and ground seems fine. Small wire from starter does not have power even at the terminal (checked with started off of engine). Should the small terminal on starter be energized or only when cranking. Small pos. cable from battery to back of alternator shows power. No power at double connector on side of new altenator (I assumed only power when charging. What am I missing???

there has to be a feed from the battery, either thru a second wire at the battery connection post or a second wire that goes on the same starter post as the main cable. This second wire has a fusible link in it (acts like a fuse). The fusible link may be bad, if in fact, you have all of the cables connected properly.

Regards, George
