Changed the selector shaft seal on thrans, went well until finished. Tried to shift into reverse, car tries to go foward. Everything seems fine on the inside, does shift to park and locking pawl works, but car wants to go foward only. Please help, have other transmissions with seal leaks. Tired of trans oil baths with this car, want to fix next time before my hair is too shiny.

I had to wait for my son to show up for an answer to your problem, as I know very little about automatic transmissions. Marty said that there is a pin that sticks out of the actuator that fits a slot in the manual valve that you probably didn't get lined up with. If the tranny was working before, he said that is the only thing it can be.
Hope this helps and sorry it took so long! Bill
