I was wondering if GM ever had a reclining bucket seat option around the early 70's that would look the same as my 70 buckets and basically being able to use my 70 covers and plastic parts, headrests etc. My GTO would be much more comfy if the seats reclined a bit, but I want the interior to remain stock looking. For some reason I thought that maybe 72 gtos or possibly GP's had buckets with reclining and lumbar features but I cant remember for sure.

66-70 GTO's had reclining passenger bucket seats as an option. Pretty rare though. Not sure if you could get a driver recliner.

I have a 69 GTO conv with a PHS documented passenger side reclining bucket seat. None were available for the drivers side that I'm aware of. It looks the same as a regular "A body" bucket seat, but it has a long chrome plated handle down on the right side of the seat. It also has the button to fold the seat forward on the upper right side of the seat (as on 1968 & earlier bucket seats) while other 69 thru 72 seats had the button on the back of the seat back. It was listed as option code 578 & cost $42.13. I have seen one other one in a 1968 GTO years ago. I also saw one for sale on ebay last year.

The passenger side recliner option was availabe from '66 and at least thru '72, I believe. It came in conjunction with the "power driver seat" as a package deal. It utilized a chrome lever mounted on the outside bottom of the seat.

Not trying to hi-jack the subject...but I can't seem to post new topics for some odd reason. My question is:
Is there a way to make a non-reclining passenger seat into a reclining passenger seat? Can you buy the hardware or does someone make a kit? I'd hate to have to swap seats in an all original car just for this mod. The car is a 67 GTO.
Also, same question about headrests, while we're on the subject.

Exclamation How much for a 66 Mint Strato Pwr and Reclining Buckets w/ Headrests

I'm looking for an appraised value for a pair of Mint 1966 Strato Buckets that are a power driver seat and passenger recliner w/ Headrests. Seats are out of a 1966 Grand Prix and have been stored since 1980 in a dry facility. Seats are complete and working with excellent chrome, no rips, and original black covers. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.
