My car has just been converted fron a Chevy V-6 to a Chevy V-8. There isn't enough room to install a Pontiac 400 without extensive modification so I just bought a ZZ4 crate engine. (355hp/405 torque)
Hows it look? It inside this:

Very clean install!
If you ever get traction, you might need a wheelie bar.

Actually it is easier to change plugs than the V-6.
As for traction, Since the engine sits in front of the rear axles, (mid-engine design) The launch off the line is solid.

So how high is the front wheels on launch? Or have you hooked up that hard yet? There is one in STL, MO. area that is wild to see at a stoplight front in the air.

The only way to get the front wheels off the ground is to mount the engine longitudal (turns the car into rear engine car) Or to have over 600hp. It is difficult when the engine is transverse mounted because the engine is forward of the rear axles (mid-engine design).
I am only pushing 355hp/405 torque, So the car just launches straight.

Nicely done. How hard was the project? Did you have to fabricate a number of parts or were you able to buy most of what you needed?

With aluminum heads and intake you didn't gain much weight compared to the 2.8?
Wish you were closer I'd love to ride shotgun through a few curves!

All the parts (mounts, brackets, flywheel, starter, 4-core radiator, etc) are included. You can order a kit from: www.v8archie.com He sells a basic kit which just has the major parts needed or you can buy the Master kit which includes everything.

The original 2.8L was with an auto trans. I now have a manual trans. So the engine actually weighs 80 lbs more, but the manual trans weighs 50 lbs less than the auto. So total weight gain was only 30 lbs and I gained 215hp.
