My daughters 99 Sunfire is picking up vibration at 65 mph and on slowing down at different speeds. She hasnt brought it for a look yet. My first thought was tires. They are new. She was told bad motor mount, wouldnt that be a continuous vibration problem? Also thinking maybe disc rotors. I dont know much about these new front wheel drive cars. Any ideas what to check first and then down the list. Hate to pay a shop if it turns out to be something simple. She has had a little trouble with this car, but the way she drives it

That's almost always a rotating assembly problem. New tires doesn't mean it's not a tire. Young people drive the crap out of cars and brake hard at the last minute. If it's wet, they can heat up a rotor and warp it easy. It the tires are new, take it back and have them check for an out of round, broken belt or warped wheel. Pulse under braking is a rotor. I did have one Cavalier that the half shaft would walk out a little and caused a vibration under accel-the opposite side could vibrate under decel. I'd bet it's a tire/rim problem---it is the day after big party night too.

Thanks Poncho. Yep, new doesnt mean good. You got me thinking it may be in the brake caliper. New shoes as well. I'll bet there lies the problem.
