Hi:

I am purchasing a the drivetrain from a 69 bonneville. This is a 2 door car with automatic tranny. I am hoping it is a th400 short tail 3 speed automatic.

Is it a short tail or a long tail? The seller is about 900 miles from me and he doesn't know.

Can I get by with a 2 speed automatic with the bigger engine (428/360 hp) or do I need an upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

All 65-76 full sized Pontiacs have long tail transmissions.
The 2 speed will work, but you(and the car)will be MUCH happier with a 3 speed.
