Not the bezel but the bucket the light sits inand the chrome trim ring holds the light into it. Anyone have any idea what color they are supposed to be painted? Thanks.

Body color, but it's usually more like just overspray.

Most of the headlight buckets that I have seen for '67 A-bodies are painted a semi-gloss black. Since they are not seen after the car is assembled, a cheap black paint would have been the most economical method for PMD to use to finish this part. I also have a '67 GP, but these head light buckets were gold cad finished. However, these were the retractable headlights, so perhaps a different finish was necessary in that case. Then again maybe it was just a different vendor that supplied these buckets.

I glass beaded them and I put some silver on them so I guess, since they won't be seen, I will just leave them that way. It looked like, and I will look at the extra 4 I have, they were cad plated but with the grime and years of stuff they have encountered, the cad was just about gone but there was a goldish tint to them before I blasted them.

Your observation is correct. The factory finsh would have been the same as the brake cyl caps, maybe just a touch lighter.
I have had several NOS buckets which still retained this coating.

Not always wanting to replate/aply this coating I just blast them and clear coat.

Cool, well I have like 5 more buckets so what I might do is blast those and then buy a kit from Eastwood that reproduces that cad look. Not sure I should spend the money since you won't ever see those once they are assembled. Hmmmm...

Some NOS Service Replacement Parts were painted a Semi-Gloss Black, but most of the original ones on assembled cars were the color that Joe shows in his photo.

Back from the depths of ambiguity.

Does anyone know what the numbers stamped on the headlight buckets are supposed to be and at which headlight location does that correspond? I just pulled my headlights and buckets out in anticipation of replacing the lights with either Halogens or LEDs. On mine, I have 2 buckets that have a 1 on the top adjuster tab and what could be a 98 on the side adjuster tab. The other 2 buckets have a 2 on the top adjuster tab and a 00 on the side adjuster tab. I thought these were supposed to be unique to each headlight location. Of the 4 headlights (each a different brand, don't ask) There is one that fit any of the buckets. I have a feeling that a new set of buckets are in my future but wanted to check here first.

The two digits are the last digits of the part number. 00 is 5950500 Right and Left upper, 98 is 5955498 Right and Left lower.
