I have a chevy 350 and have put 3 starters on this thing in the last year. Just keeps breaking the starter drive. It has a new Carqest flywheel and timing is backed way down. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Do they make a heavy duty drive or anything. Signed tired of fixing the wifes old chevy. My Pontiac just keeps goin!!!!!!

 Just Kidding. Just reminded me of that line from Good Morning Vietnam when he grinded the starter. Anyways, Maybe it needs some shims? What is actually breaking on it?

The actual starter drive itself, It doesnt need shimmed, it starts quiet as can be. This is in a 71n Impala.

starter drive failure is an alignment problem or grinding it when the engine is running.

Timing would be my guess but it could just be an alignment problem.Try and get warrantee on the starter they will give you every reson in the world why its your fault.The chances of having 3 weak starters is pretty slim.
