I am torn between small and big block for my car.I was told that the big block will require removal of my airconditioning hump or whatever you call it on the firewall the thing with the relay on it and some wiring.I have already taken off my air compressor and condenser and stuff. So do I have to take this out to get the big block to fit or to be able to change plugs etc.And can I put on the hump heater cover thing from non air car and will it be possible to rewire things so I can still have heat and defrost .My car is street driven in fall and spring and it can still get pretty cold around here .nice to still have heat and defrost.

I have a 454 BBC in my 80. My firewall 'hump' is still there and my heat and defrost works. My AC was removed by the engine builder. I think you could leave it in, but you would need a bracket.

Andy how is plug access..can you change them without too much trouble..especially the ones near the firewall and near the ac hump or brake booster.
What brand of headers do you have..or do you have stock exhaust manifolds..anything else I should know before dropping a big block chevy in there..??Any tips ???

I looked tonight and plug access doesn't look too bad. The passenger side next to the hump looks like it might me tricky - but still doable from the top. I have long tube headers, but I don't know what brand. If you want I can take some pics in the next day or so and e-mail them to you.

Andy..sorry busy last couple days..wouldn't mind seeing some picks...still thinking of big block chev. Was talking to this torment guy who runs pontiacs succesfully with his blower but they just don't have the intimidating look of a big block chevy with its giant valve covers.
