alright, after much deliberation, i've decided to keep and rebuild my '66 326 for my '67 tempest.
i'll be checking to make sure that it has the 10.75:1 compression ratio that my clymers says, and if it doesn't, i'll bump it up to that. i'll also be replacing cam, piston rings, ect... normal stuff for rebuild. i know that it depends on many variables, but how much torque/hp do you think i'll be making? i'm just looking for a ball-park (200-250,250-300,300-350,ect) im going to be keeping my 2 speed automatic trans, and since it's old and crappy, how much power loss will happen by the time it sees my wheels? looking for a ballpark here also. another thing, is there a certain way to determine compression ratio when you have compression psi from a cylinder? thanks in advance |

That compression is too high for a Pontiac street engine unless you use race gas or aluminum heads. Also the biggest improvement you will feel in the seat of your pants would be to change the trans. Install a T 350 or better yet a T 200 4R.
