I'm at a loss. I installed a holley blue electric fuel pump on my engine along with a high torque starter. The starter cranks the motor with no problems, so that's just fine , but the carb is flooding pretty bad at just 5 psi of fuel pressure and it won't start. I have an edelbrock performer 750 and the book says it needs 6-7 psi. The fuel is bubbling up through the plates for changing the metering rods. Do I need to lower the pressure some more or is there another adjustment that I should be looking at?

I would suspect 1'st that you have something stuck in the needle and set.

1'st try tapping (lightly with a screwdriver handle) on the side of the carb while the pump is running to see if it unseats the oject holding the needle off it's seat.
If not, I'd take the top of the carb's body apart and see what is keeping the needle from seating after the float closes it.

I'm sure the others will have more suggestions, but that's my take on it.

Best of luck.
Steve.

It has to be something stuck in the needle and seat. Teflon tape or a bit of rubber from the new hoses perhaps..... Pulling the carb top is the only real sure way to clear out something in the needle and seat.

Big block? Small Block? Nope, It's a Pontiac Engine!
