Hi folks,
I'm rebuilding my wife's 67 Firebird to a street car (it's a former racer that's gutted). We want to put A/C in it. Has anyone used the Vintage Air complete kit? What's you're experiences? Thanks It's a race car, if it was easy everyone would have one!!!!!

No I haven't. I'm going to be redoing my 67 bird next year and while I've got the car gutted I'm going to install it while its all apart. I've heard nothing but good things about their products and they're new generation 2 under dash unit is smaller and works better also. You should order their catalog. Lots of diferant options to control your equipment and lots of options for difusers to push the air into the car. There's another company out there that makes a unit that mounts under your parcell shelf and blows the air from the back window towards the front. Good question. Its been brought up before but nobody that drives Pontiacs seem to be interested in it. Probably because we're all so cool anyway.

i put the vintage air in my 70 el camino couple of years ago, so not sure about your pontiac,,however, get ready to use your imagination.....the instructions are poor,,you will probably fabricate something here or there, as to routing hoses, making the controls work,,ect...but, all in all, is quite doable...and it works fine....one other suggestion is get the largest condensor you can fit...the one they send with the kit will probably be too small...mine works fine in the e.c., but not sure it would cool as well in the interior of a car

I installed a Vintage Air Gen ll kit (134) on my 66 GTO.The most diffucult part to fab is furnished and fits perfectly: the compressor mount. Per prior posts the rest is up to the installer such as component location and hose/ electrical routing. The printed insallation instructions are excellent as well as customer srevice and warranty resolution. This system features electric servos in place of cable or vacumm operated air distribution doors. It produces 40 Degree air in 100 deg. ambient temps and kept us cool this July on our trip to the POCI and GTOAA Nats..

I also have a Vintage Air setup in my 70 GTO (134a). The top of the line is the GenII Supercooler, and I have only heard good things from those who are using it. My compressor is mounted in a March Serpentine setup and you should work with them on fitting the largest condenser you can fit in front of the radiator. They have a bunch of sizes not listed in their catalog. Also have a real nice control panel that mounted in the console between the 4 speed shifter and the console box.
