Although it is seldom driven, the front seat skins in my '64 GTO post coupe are changing from white to a fawn color in the contact areas.
No, no, it isn't dirt. I'll be getting them dyed soon, but has anyone else had this problem. The back seat has not changed color. |

Who did the seat covers come from? I did my white interior about 8 or 9 years ago and bought from PY and the only problem I have had was with my trim shop kind of over stuffing the seat backs and pushing on the stitching a bit,but the seat foam was not available then. Im real anal on originality so most never notice it, but it pissed me off. No color problems at all. Im not sure but I think PY was using PUI at that point and I hope they still are. Not the cheapest player in town, but quality way above the others. Ive had other dealings with them over the years outside PY and with them as well (way back when Paul Spotts was in house and since them as well)and they go out of there way to make things right. What Im trying to say in this long winded post , if by chance they came directly or indirectly from PUI, contact them and you may have a chance they will work with you. No Im not affiliated with them in any way, just a very satisfied repeat customer even though the fill rate on orders with them can be a bit slow at times. Unfortunately, I don't know who the manufacturer of these skins are, because the car was restored before I purchased it.
I've dealt with PUI, and I know they would stand behind their product. It almost looks like the skins were orginally fawn and dyed parchment, and now the parchment is wearing off. A friend of mine Greg also had a similar problem with skins for his '65. The seats were assembled, wrapped in plastic and sat in a dry closet. |

I purchased my covers from year One back in January of 1993. I do believe they were manufactured by PUI. I installed new Saguaro foams at the time the covers were installed. I have had a couple of people look at the seats and it looks like the discoloration is possible some sort of reaction between the seat cover and the foam. I ended up buying some SEM dye, number 15003, phantom white, and misting the affected areas. This color is a PERFECT match for the upholstery, and the repair is undetectable. I would recommend you give it a try. I would be glad to show you my car whenever you are up this way. Greg |

same thing is happening to my back seat which is parchment-starting to show a blueish color-i wish the front would do the same,i think it looks cool on my light blue car!
