I have a '67 Tempest with a 400 cid engine, th-350 tranny, and an edelbrock 1406 carb w/ electric choke. When I bought the car I noticed a cable linkage coming from the tranny up by the intake. It wasn't attached to anything so I did some digging in the service books and I believe it's the downshift cable. The problem is I don't know where it attaches to the carb and none of the books I've seen shows it either. They just say attach it. Does anyone know where it goes?

I would think it should hook up to the same bracket as the throttle cable. the throttle cables hook up on the upper part of bracket, shift down should hook up on lower portion of same bracket. This is the part on your carb. plate, bracket, arm one of those is correct Hope this helps some

Holley makes some steel replacement studs to bolt on carbs without the stud for using the TH 350 cable. As was said it bolts on the bottom part of the throttle linkage and pulls the cable out as you go to WOT. It is need for downshifts and I think even some part throttle shift firmness.

Most of the Edelbrock cable studs are aluminum and not as stout as the Holley ones.
