Andy responded to an ad I placed looking for a good set of poverty caps to complete a frame off 64 GTO. He said he had 4 for $185 which I sent. He emailed me that the caps were on the way. After a week or so with no arrival I again contacted him, he said he would put a trace on them. Still no caps. This transaction started in May and after trading emails I last heard from him on 9/1/00 when he said that he would contact his bookkeeper to return my money. I have sent repeated emails with no response. Beware of this individual.

I will put my 2 cents in... always try and pay with a US Postal money order. If you do, and purchase something where you send payment(US Postal money order) through the US mail, the person endorses, cashes/deposits the m.o. but dosent send the parts, than the Postal Inspectors will investigate. Thats enough to make the majority of these big time crook wannabees shake (or worse) in their boots. I buy a lot off the net and ALWAYS send these and never have had any problems. Talk to a Postmaster in your town and he/she will fill you in.

Just my 2 cents worth.....
One of the better ways to ship is via UPS or FedEx. Whenever you ship something using either of these two companys the sender will receive a tracking number. Accessing either of these shippers websites will allow you to track your package using the tracking number. Also, as far as UPS, basic ground shipping includes $100 worth of insurance (something you pay extra for at the post office).

I don't know if you guys know it, but if you send old car parts by UPS and they lose them, they will not honor their insurance even if you paid for the extra. They do not insure these types of items and their policy is to not honor insurance on ANY thing that they can't go to the store and buy. They don't like to handle anything that is breakable because of the way they handle packages. I'm sure you have probably received packages with parts sticking through the side of the boxes. It takes quite and impact to penetrate some of these boxes.

I'd have to disagree with you about UPS honoring the insurance. They were my best customer in 1998, 1999, and 2000.
The insurance portion of UPS is now handled by a seperate company that is much more strict, but will still pay out on busted up car parts.

To combat the slam dunk degenerates on the sort aisle at OOps, now using alternative carriers. Parts go out RPS, Parcel Post, truck freight, or you come get em.

Interesting dialogue on shippers. We ship an average of 75 packages/week with UPS. Since 1983 (we switched from the pony express), have had 3 claims; 1 lost carburetor repair kit, 1 lost carburetor, 1 carburetor ran over by the UPS truck (hey, it helped hood clearance!). UPS paid off within 5 days of claim (both carburetors were collector items). All they required was a copy of our invoice, and check was sent. We have had problems with other carriers of items shipped to us. Curious as to others comments. Jon.

UPS is the best! My counter people are friendly and now I can do my own shipping paperwork over the internet and leave the package on the dock at work. One of the few claims that I've had to make was ironically for Andre who replied above. UPS crushed a tilt column that I senbt him for a 65 Bonne and they made good on it.

UPS has worked well for me both in shipping and receiving. Thanks Bob for the seats and power door locks. They arrived at my door step without any damage.

75 percent of my shipping is with UPS. Very few problems. When there is, I notify them, they send me paperwork, and a claim is finished no problem. Tracking numbers can be traced by both myself and the customer, no extra fee. Never had a claim denied.

Now lets talk USPS. If you want to make a claim, you need to hand the ORIGINAL insurance form to them, jump hoops, and have lots of time. Tracking and insurance cost extra. I thought I was going to have a claim for a international package, it takes 5 MONTHS for them to investigate the missing package. Turns out the package finally arrived, 2 months after shipping airmail.

If I want insurance, I ship UPS. just my two cents worth.
