I bought a 66 Trips at a swap meet today.... correct center carb, correct base plates and air horns on the end carbs. Didn't notice that the end carbs bodies have been replaced with ordinary 60's Pontiac two barrel bodies. I ASSUME that this will work as the idle circuit has been blocked off by the baseplates. Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks Mike |

Mike,
I'm not clear on your question but I also have 66' trips and the center baseplate is the only base that has idle mixture screws and the two end carb baseplates have the boss where the screws would go but are not drilled and tapped. If your end baseplates were plugged properly they'll be fine but take off the bases and make sure the holes are pluged along with the feed hole on the top of the baseplate.

Maybe this will make my question clearer. I do have the correct base plates (without the idle mixture screws) and they'll block off the idle mixture by the throttle plates. I don't know if there are other issues with the carb body having the idle circuit in it though. Mike

If I read this correctly, you have conventional main bodies on Tri-Power bases with tri-power
tops. So you just need the center sections. Do you have the tri-power clusters too? No idle circuit tubes in the clusters. I may have the right parts to make your system work with factory mainbodies. E-Mail me with what you have. Tom Vaught
