I purchased some Pontiac connecting rods in an eBay auction on May 28...I paid the $300 via Paypal and the seller (an individual from WI) never sent the rods. I emailed him a few times at 2 weeks after auction end then at 3 weeks and 4 weeks and he kept saying he sent them and they were lost in the mail. So I emailed and asked him to send me the claim number from the post office etc and he said he would but never did. So I filed a claim through Paypal/eBay and after 10 days (the seller never replied to Paypal's inquiry) Paypal sent me the standard $175 eBay refund....now Paypal says they are trying to get the rest of my refund. Has anyone dealt with Paypal in this type of matter....Paypal says they have a $1000 refund guarantee...so I am wondering if Paypal will come through for me or not? Thanks.

Can you keep us informed as to Paypal's actions in this matter please? I'm sure there are many members who, like me, buy from ebay auctions - sometimes in another country. If I were in your position, it would be very difficult for me to deal with the seller's local government enforcement office, as I live in England.

Thanks and good luck!

Pod.

I live in WI, and am willing to help. Where in WI was the seller? I have a nice collection of baseball bats, pellet guns and brass knuckles. I also know some attorneys who are friendly like pit bulls. Let me know if I can help.

Did you use a credit card to pay through Paypal? You can deny the charge if you did. That's why I always use my card.

I used the Paypal "cash".....it will be interesting because since he has a paypal account paypal has all of his sensitive bank information etc.....they already tried to pull the entire $300 out of his paypal account but of course there was nothing there. I hope it is just a matter of time......ebay gave me his home phone number (he has mine)....I thought of calling but am wondering if that will just make him upset and then he ends up harrassing me by phone.....dont know.....hope paypal comes through.

I like the way limejudge thinks Is $175 what they have as a "standard" refund, no matter what the item cost?

I'm dealing w/ the same issue. I'm only waiting on a $60 item, but I was told it shipped 3 weeks ago and haven't heard from them again.

I received his contact infor from Ebay, and the # is no longer in service. I did some snooping and found his business information. I called and left a couple messages but no returned calls. I have his address, anyone in CT want to pay him a visit, email me!

Today is day 9, so I assume Monday I will get a response from Paypal and hopefully my refund.

THe $175 ebay refund is dependent on what the item costs.

I think his name has been "on hold" since his activity (items bid on etc) suddenly dropped off on eBay after the 10 days were over when he failed to respond to Paypal's inquiry.

His eBay name is "zx6rpunk"....Plymouth, WI.

He does not regularly sell Pontiac parts....mostly into the bike stuff as his eBay name implies. Of course, once he got my $300 he went on a bike parts spending spree.

I would post the phone number but eBay says its a no no....I'm gonna give it some more time for now.

Whats funny, is that it only costs about $5 to do an information search on someone over the internet and it brings up their address etc...family names, friends all kinds of stuff. Not really worth it to screw someone over even on the internet.....if I wnated to I could make his life miserable. Imagine calling his family members 10 times a day etc.

Thats what I mean....it doesnt really take alot of snooping work to get some sensitive information on someone......Its amazing people are willing to take the risk over $60.

the wis attny general will contact the seller and put pressure on them to make the deal right.

make it plain to them that you're willing to go the distance with this [court] and then back it up if necessary.

be sure to include that the seller is operating a business from that address to your knowlege and have a printout of all trans actions between you and the seller to back this up. his ebay feedback will be helpful if a large number also to prove sales not turned in on taxes also.

running a business without a license is illegal in most areas, especially if the person isn't claiming it on their taxes. ask them to check and see if a business is registered to the address you sent payment to.

the above is as easy as a few emails and maybe a phone call or 2.

Actually, the attorney general's office will do very little. They will likely send him a letter. He may respond or he may do nothing. They will then send you a letter stating that if they see a trend of repeated complaints against the seller, they will investigate. Otherwise the attorney generals office, paypal, US Postal Service, etc. will do nothing. Your option would be to hire your own attorney and go after him. But, in reality, you will be out way more money in the long run.

Guys- I'm a deliver driver and guess what?
I go to Plymouth WI about 3 days a week! I also live only 20 miles from Plymouth. PM me info and I will try to find this guy. Maybe a knock on his front door will convince him to do the right thing.
