Hey guys,
I'm lookin for a set of tires for my 80' TA with 15x8 snowflake rims. Right now I have BFG radial T/A's and wasn't very impressed with them. A buddy of mine just got a set of Firestone Firehawk SS20's, which has the highest rating at tirerack.com, for his 86' Monte SS and he really likes them. I am thinkin either getting a set of the SS20's or Comp T/A's. Tell me what you think, I'm open for other suggestions on brands and models. Thanks Again |

I've had the SS20's on two differant vehicles now and have been pleased with them. Good traction in the rain and appear to wearing great.
Will most likely be putting a set on my Formula when the one's I have now wear out (They are the Firehawks before the SS10's or SS20's came out ).

Hmm, I for some reason don't want to get firestone tires after hearing all the stuff with Ford and their recalls, but if they get such high ratings, who knows. I myself have BFG Radial T/A's, I can't compare them to anything because I went from stock worn tires to these, so I saw a huge difference. My bro has Kelly Chargers on his 81 Z28, and dear god, they are terrible. I went to tiretrack as well, and the michelins look good, for a higher price though. I am also wondering what people use on their cars.....My father has Coopers on his 66 charger, although that doesn't seem to be a big name brand, or popular at least. I am still skeptical about firestone, a big red light hits my brain every time I hear that name....
Edit: Hey bandit, you're from ridgefield? Ever heard of the town of Easton or Redding? I am from Easton, I have not been to any shows this summer, because I got my car running at the end of August, but do you ever go to the Marcus Dairy shows in Danbury? Maybe next season, I will see you there! [ September 16, 2002, 10:51 AM: Message edited by: AJ78 ]

cant say much for the ss20, but i can for the comp t/a's and bfg's. over stock the bfg's are great. handel great look good w/ the raised white letters. the comp t/a's are just awsome. forget about driving in the snow. in the rain the are on par with the bfg's. low speeds they ride a bit rough but highway speed they are very smooth. they will handle the suspension of second gen t/a's
