Hey guys, does anyone know what the difference is between a 63 standard timing cover and the super duty cover? Part numbers are different, but I haven't seen the two side by side. What about the alternator brackets? Are the standard pieces the same as the SD pieces? I am building a SD replica, but only using SD parts where there is a significant difference (intakes, etc.). Sorry, but this one is going to be an A/FX Tempest coupe (planning a 62 Cat for the next project). I figured that since the SD Cats were much more common, that this would be the best place to find the info. Thanks.

Larry,
I may be wrong but checking the pictures in the car mags the cover sure looks the same. Using a 64-65 cover will increase your water flow. Most of the SD parts were prototypes that were used later in production. In one form or another.

I believe the SD damper was quite different and the timing pointer may have been corespondingly changed thus accounting for a different part # on the front cover.
