Folks,

Putting a new rad support in my 70, it looks like the original bushings/clips are long gone and since welded.

Anybody know where I can get that clip? GM number 477620. Looks like our host has the bushings for 71-72(PYF28), but I'm not sure if they are the same for 1970.

That bushing is not currently reproduced.
There were 3 NOS ones on ebay recently and they sold for $126.
I am thinking about having them made, I have some very good pictures of the ones that were on ebay and some measuremnents from my originals.

Just a FYI, I provided the NOS '71-'72 GTO front bumper stabilizer bushing (pn 9799960) to Chris here at PY as a pattern for their repops.

I remember reading that post where PY built those bushings. Anybody have the 1970 NOS set to send to PY to repop?

Jagjr, I'd be in on a set of those bushings.
How about the clip/bracket?

Is your core support one of the repops? I would think they would include the welded on bracket with the core support. Good to know when your ordering a support for a 70.

Well . . . great news on those bushings!

Brent, I kept looking at the pic that you posted above, and I thought those bushings looked VERY familiar. So, I checked my Pontiac MPC - and found that they ARE the same pn (9799960) as the '71-'72 bushings, so the PY repops will fit just fine! Chris sent me a pair at NC as a favor for loaining him the NOS one to use as a pattern, and I can tell you the repop is an exact duplicate. Problem solved on the bushing, the clip, however I can't help you with - yet!

Whomever orders these from PY for a '70, please inform Chris that they are also the same as the '71-'72 part so they can update their catalog listings.

The support is a repop, (got it through the local resto shop, so I'm not sure if it's the same distributor as the catalogs)

It has the welded bracket that curls under the front---this holds the rubber insulator in. Looks like in the pic there is a metal clip that fits in the insulator and bolts to the bumper stabilizer. I might order the 71-72 insulator and try and make it work. A day in the garage bending some steel and I should have a clip built. Add the rad filler panel and it's hidden for good.

I thought I had commented once on the bushing being the same (as well as the ones for 1970 LeMans and Tempests). You could cut down the brackets found on LeMans and Tempests and form the center adjustment. Here is a picture of the '70 GTO bracket. The 2-1/4" is measuring as if you had the ruler hitting the inside edge of the piece.

I'm lucky in that I have to 70 GTO's. I bought a set of Lemans brackets and I'm going to cut them down using my orignal pair for templates.

F.Y.I. everybody,

I checked those bushings from PY PYF28, and they fit perfectly in the 1970 repop rad support.

Good to go, catalog can now say 70-72 bushings.

I bought a pair of the support bushings from PY for my '70. Not a correct fit for me.
jagjr, are you still looking into this? As I just talked to someone today and I will have a quote sometime next week.

I'll get a pic this weekend, but me and my old man used your picture measurements as reference and we bent some stainless to match. They fit the bushing great and fit into the repro rad support. We'll see this weekend if they fit ok onto the 70 bumper stabilizer...........

I'm not saying if you manufacture your own brackets, it won't work, it better as you are manufacturing them to fit the bushing. Here is a comparo of the two bushings.

...and, of course, how the PY repro fits. One can always modify the rubber to fit more snugly (take material out of the center), but the dimensional size is off too. I don't know how the original '70 compares to an original 1971-72, but I'd like to.

Hey Guys,
I'm seeking the same parts myself right now and looked at many a part list and contacted several pontiac bone yards, looking up websites and calling people in the past two days.
I'm touching up my front end, ended up taking it off, blasting it, etc. and discover I don't even have these parts. I think I'll get the 70/71 bushings and bend metal for the rest, thanks for the info

I guess all I'm trying to say is, if you use these repros on a '70 GTO, there is going to be slop between the bushing and the core support welded-on bracket (haven't checked on reproduction core supports, yet). And you have to modify the bushing to fit better on the bolt-on bumper support bracket. Will it work, maybe. Is it correct, not in my book. I will be calling to see if they've worked out the pricing for manufacturing, tommorow.
