I was just curious about O-Ringing the heads and block.
I plan to run 12:1 .040 455. It could have anywhere from 550ftTQ-600ftTQ at 3000RPM and shifting at/around 5800RPM. I have yet to pick a Roller CAM. I will be using a stall speed no higher than 3000 to keep some street-ability. 700R4 Trans, Eaton 4:10 (I know too much gear), 69 Firbird Conv. -First would I even need to O-RING? -Does the block and heads need to be o-ringed? -Are there special gaskets needed? -Is it worth it? -Pros vs. Cons? SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM Im putting together a .040 455 with Edelbrock heads (72cc), Eagle Rods, FLAT top J&E Pistons for 12:1, Harland sharp roller Rockers, Fluidampner, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and 750 Demon Carb. I figured the need for o-ringing was when 14:1 or more compression or NOS was being used. I may be wrong. I run 12.4:1 and eheads but no o-rings. In fact, I had the heads off for 3 months and re used the Fel Pro gaskets and its still going.
Wang whats with all the pictures it a parking lot.....

I agree with Jack. 3 years at 13:1 w/680 HP, and no head gasket problems running Felpro 1016's. Now, if your planning nitrous, that's another story---- Bill

I o-ringed my block at 12:1 with the Butler gaskets, just in case. Having one less head bolt per cylinder than the bowtie crowd makes me nervous.

12.5 compression making 665 hp 620lbs torque using the Felpro #1016. No problems ever!
