Hi,

Can someone tell me if there is an alternative paint to Eastwoods Golden CAD System for the brake booster. I tried Eastwood and the stuff is basically junk.

I don't plan to have it plated and I would like to know if there is a paint color/paint brand that would be an acceptable alternative to plating. And what would be considered accepable for Car restoration and or car shows?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any process other than the original plating is not going to be accepted at judged shows. Some are better than others but ALL will look different than true plating.

When I found out how cheap it was to have parts plated I wished I knew about it sooner. I pay $50.00 for a 5 gallon bucket full of parts to have them plated, that is the minumum the more stuff you have the cheaper it gets. I put all the parts I can think of in the plating bucket because it can be greasy and grimey and have surface rust on it and it comes back looking brand new, I even had a Hurst shifter replated without taking it apart. The plating won't stick to stainless steel or harm rubber parts. They dip the parts in acid to clean them before they are plated. The parts are zinc plated and if you want the gold cad look they just dip the parts in a dye after they are plated. Most large cities should have a plating service.
