New Pontiac owner here, and love this car as my daily driver. 350 CI, 350 TH, and I freshened the motor with an HEI, 600 Holley, dual plane Edelbrock manifold, and Summit cam. I have questions about the 10 bolt open rear. I had to replace the seals, and found the screw that holds the pin in the carrier had a 1/2" head -- all other GM rears I have worked on had a 5/16" head. Is this something specific to Pontiac? It was necessary to remove the right hand carrier bearing cap to remove the screw. I have not been able to find the proper torque specs for the bearing cap bolts.
Also, since the rear is a c-clip type, I think from reading info on this site that this may not be the original rear. The code on the right axle tube (front) is "CB O826B".
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill C

Hey guys,
Found info on the Code. It is a Chevy rear, 3.36 gears, manufactured Aug. 26 in Buffalo.
Still curious about the bolt, and need cap bolt torque specs.

Thanks,
Bill C
