I have a stroked '78 400 I'm trying to fit into my '67 LeMans. On the passenger side I had to grind on the mount to make it clear the bolt that holds the adaptor plate to the block--no problem. But now on the driver side there is an extra saddle (undrilled) which prevents putting the bolt through the adaptor plate and to the mount. Should I try to hand drill and tap the block and then bolt the mount directly through the adaptor plate to the block, or can I grind off the saddle on the block and use the adaptor plate as I did on the other side? If this is unclear I can make pictures of it all and post them. I'm hoping someone has had this exact same problem and knows what to do. Thanks alot.

Grind it to clear, it wont hurt anything.

I had a 78 pwh block that i drilled and tapped to use the 67 style mount, I just wanted to buy a set of taps.

We ran into the same problem on an engine. At first my engine builder drilled it to one size smaller, but we talk about it, and the drivers side being the side that gets pulled from the torque, was decised to go to correct size. -Jesse

Oh man, I'm getting mixed messages here...but kidgoat, drilling and tapping will allow one of the motor mount bolts to be directly bolted to the block, rather than to the plate which is bolted to the block--will this make a noticeable difference in holding the engine secure? I'm leaning toward taking 8Doors first approach, since I've never drilled and tapped a bolt hole before, and things get pretty ugly with my brand new engine if I screw it up (pardon the pun).
