My car now has 15" glasspacks on it. I have seen the Dynomax Bullet mufflers in Summit Racing. Does anyone know how these mufflers sound like compared to the glasspacks? Are they louder? Different tone?

Since they are so much shorter and the diameter of the case is not much bigger than the through ppes, the Bullets will be louder. Dynomax advises to only use them for race applications. There are others that can be used that are straight through and will be quieter than glasspacks so drop me a note at [email protected] if you'd like other suggestions.

The whole thing is I had another car exactly like the one I have now. This is the same exhaust system on it but my other car was louder than this one. That's what i am trying to accomplish.

if you have glass packs on the car now and they are new they'll be quieter for a while. the packing will eventually burn out of them.
a trick that the kids used when i was in high school was to get the mufflers hot and then run water from a garden hose up the pipes. this broke the fiberglass packing loose and increased the noise level. mike

We poured gas in them in the sixties. It really gutted them of the glass filler in minutes when we ran at high rev. Way to loud for me today.

I can positively assure you that the dynomax race magnum bullets are going to be way louder than the glass packs even after "glass pack break in" as said before they are supposed to be a race only muffler but I have ran them with a 3" straight through exhaust with headers on my 68 Goat for about 3 years now and they are a bitch to drive when its late at night because you attract that unneeded attention.

I run them on my race car. There is very little sound difference between Walker Bullets & open headers. It only muffles the sound a little. These are for race only. Very loud your neighbors will not like you.

Good Scott, thats what I wanted to hear.
Give me a thumbs up, tell me "Nice Car!", but for god's sake, don't call it an Impala. |

I don’t mean to highjack the thread, but you guys who have run Dynomax bullets would have a good idea of how quiet the system I have in mind would be…
I plan on building a set of custom sidepipe mufflers for my 68 Vette. A 2.5” head pipe will run into a string of three 2.5” i.d./4”o.d. Dynomax bullet muffs on each side. An H-pipe will be used as well. If the noise level is still too high then a 2.5” header baffles will be placed in the head pipe. The goal is to create a sidepipe that is quieter then stock, which are pretty loud, but yield much better flow.
