Many of you have followed the saga of my 490. In a nutshell 3yrs,8runs,4dyno runs have cost $$$$$$ from original build,2 rebuilds including welding and hard chroming the crank and now it sits with a 6" x 6" hole in the block.
However, as I look at the crank through that hole it looks like it might just need to be turned to be OK. Then all I would need is some nice rods(with 7/16" Bolts!), one new piston/ring set, bearings and a new 400block.So, am I outa my mind for even considering using the crank again?? I feel it is mocking me, but I am not sure if it's because of not making it work or thinking I should try one more time. HEEEELLLLPPPPPP ME!!!!!! Phil

ONLY because I just sold my 3.875" billet crank, you should try re-using yours.
If, of course, it cleans up nice. |

We thruogh a rod in our race car, last weekend at Englishtown. Went strait through the oilpan. Our crew chief was gonna re-use the crank if at all possible.
