I got a 403 I'm Looking to build. I know that replaceing the Heads too up compression is a way to go. I Think I want to go with this piston here http://www.kb-silvolite.com/performa...tails&P_id=354 This will bump my compression a couple points. My question Is should I use the Factory 4A heads and mildly port them or Use a set of 455 heads. I got a set Of G head from a 455. This will be a street motor and I got a 2004r with 2500 stall. running 3.73 gears.

Look at this build-up, it's what I would go by and should answer alot of your questions. The young guy that wrote this is a partner with his father in a popular Speed shop/engine builders , and Oldsmobile specialist.(FCR Performance in Omaha,NE.)

I can get a set of early 350 heads, if you are interested. They have been mildly ported, chambers polished, center exhaust dividers welded flush to gasket surface, and head bolt holes enlarged for 403 bolts.
Anyone interested, contact me at: [email protected] Lee Atkinson

You need to email this guy, Bill Trovato at; [email protected] He built a very nice 403 combo for the engine masters contest.

Dick Miller Racing built a TRUE 403 block (yes windowed mains) using one of my J&S Machine halo girdles. HE FINISHED the EMC contest with engine intact!! FCR and the Bandit didn't NOT even SHOW for the event ( and having a 1000. + girdle attached) HERES the #'s of DMR 403!! http://www.dickmillerracing.com/PHR_403.htm
