I would like to install a stock h.e.i distributor in a 70 g.p. 350 horse 10:5 to 1. what would be the right choice for a spark plug and gap? should i use the plug called for on this car or use one used on later 70's model with a bigger gap?

I think if you still have the big plug heads you would be pretty well limited to changing plugs from the originals.

Going out on a limb without actually looking, but I think a R45S. Anyway a colder plug than what is supposed to be there originally is not necessarily needed. Many will automatically change heat range just cause they heard that was the thing to do, not always what needs to be done. Try the stock heat range first, but you will need to change the original gap setting from .030 to .045 for the HEI, to get the full benifit from it.
