I currently have a 455 engine with 6x heads I was just about to port the heads and do the machine work on the block, my cousin knows a friend whose roommate skipped town owing him $1000 dollars in back rent, leaving behind a machined 454 block, no crank, 1 head crower roller cam, roller lifters, roller rockers, resized rods, keith black 1 valve relief piston, all balanced with a complete engine overhaul kit including clevite rod and main berrings, rings, etc. He said he would sell it to me for $1000.00
The roller components alone are worth $1100.00 The block is been line bored good deal or stay with the 455. My friends trying to beat some sense in me to take this deal its a steal But still would have to spend more money on the conversion tranny, headers, exhaust, etc, what should I do? Buy the Ch*vy.

Then sell it for what it's worth and use that money for your 455.

I would sell the BBC and get into a Pontiac engine. Why? Several reasons. As you mentioned the conversion is going to be a pain in the arse! You won't be able to use any BOP transmissions either. The 454 weighs more than the 455 Pontiac engine. If you don't care about any of this go ahead.

I would have to agree with Banditone, sell the Chevy, make some money off of it.

I'd like to look at the engine, if you decide not to get it.

Buy the Chevy, get a Chevy car for it.Make it go relatively fast, then build up the Pontiac, and challenge people to the "pontiac vs. Chevy" debate with two "equally matched" cars.It was a no brainer to begin with, but some people need "mental re-enforcement"

Or,buy the chevy, sell it to some race dude(or your worst enemy),and build up the pontiac into a fire breathin monster!
