I have a 66 GTO Convertible. I am redoing the interior. New Carpet from ACC. Dark Blue. My kick panels are badly faded. Does anyone know the proper color for repainting these?

Also, The sheet metel on the interior top portion of the the door, is this supposed to be the same color as the outside of the car, or the interior. Mine was painted similar to the outside color, and I do not know if this is correct.

Thanks, Mike

Mike, most of the '66 GTO/LeMans I've seen had the interior metal above the door panels painted the same color as the interior color.I have a '66 Tempest Conv. that has been re-painted red inside and out.I'm going to put parchment (white) interior in it so I'm going to repaint the inside white to match the seat covers.

Mike,

I just finished my entire interior on my '66 Lemans Conv....seat covers, cushions, rear armrests, piston panels, etc... My interior color is blue, which I believe is code 15. On the metal top portion of the doors and other places in the interior such as glove box and various parts of the dash, the color is a dark bluish / purplish color....of course more on the dark blue side.

I asked a GTO supplier(Year One) if they had a matching color and they did. I bought the paint(12oz can), but have not sprayed it yet to see if it matches. So, to answer your question...for my car the paint on the top of the door did not match my interior or my exterior color. But it was closer to my interior color...which in my opinion GM was trying to blend the metal color of the interior with the interior color rather than the exterior color.

I would check with an after market co. such as PY to see what they have available.

Good Luck...Dan. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
