because i will be adding a dependable working water temp gauge to my 70 goat that alrady has gauges, i might as well add a mechanical oil pressure gauge, my question is can i have both my original oil pressure gauge and a current mechanical hooked up simultaneously, is there more than one ports in the block for a sending unit for oil pressure? i didnt think so. for the new water temp sending unit, i will just be pulling that damn three pronged monster than never works anyway. thanks guys.

your factory gauge uses electricl sending unit, use a aftermarket that uses mechanical ( actual tube that will interface at the oil filter where your original elect sending unit is ( comes with adapters so you can use the original elect. and the mechanical gauge sending unit)

well forrest, you seem to be very active with my questions, thanks alot, do all aftermarket gauges allow the possibility to run both electrical and mechanical readings, is there one in particular that i should purchase, i want to run a new water temp and oil pressure set up under the dash discreetly, thanks again.

I would get some of the small Auto meter gauges.
They come in a kit with both the Water and oil and a two gauge pod. I recomend the Mechanical ones. Your car should have two outlets on the water crossover so you can use the factory and the Aftermarket water. As for the oil you will have to use an adapter. It will be a Tee fitting that you can put both the factory and aftermarket sending units/line in. [ June 17, 2002, 10:23 PM: Message edited by: Blackcat ]

blackcat has it right!, thats the way to go, most aftermarket will have the adapters, but you may have to buy the tee fitting to hook both up,

by the way if you have the correct intake ( 71 or up( there will be only one place to hook up your temp sending unit, the factory unit will be in the only hole , you will have to go to another hole on the side of the block to put in an aftermarket sending unit, 71`s and up usually have the other hole on the intake sealed off

sorry , I just looked at your first reply and saw that you have a 70, should be 2 holes at the front of the intake, I think 71`s or 72`s changed THAT
