Where can I purchase a cd player for my 79 TA. I do not want to cut my dash. If I have to I will put one in the trunk. I think i will have to put one into the trunk, but I don't know where to get the cd player.
Thanks, Bob

Well, I have a 78 trans am, and I have cut the dash for my Pioneer cd head unit. Reason being, is for a while I lived with the old push button stereo, and it just plain sucked. I felt a little bad about cutting a pristine dash, but after I put my new Stereo in, and the nice sounds it made, I quickly got over cutting the dash. Plus, the new stereo looks really sharp in the dash.

Classic Industries offers an in dash tape player that looks and fits like an original stereo but also has the outputs for a disc changer you can mount almost anywere. Also a bonus for not looking like something worthwhile for someone to steal.

I put a CD player in the holder that houses the 8track in the console. I had to rework the box a little, but its not noticable. When I show, I unplug the cd player and all they see is the stock AM radio. You could also try in the glove box if the stock look is important.

I have a Pioneer CD player in my 79 T/A. It looks good and sounds great. I was worried about cutting my dash at first, but when I got it installed I loved it. I burned the Smokey and the Bandit theme song onto CD. Talk about turning some heads!
