I went to get a new fuel pump today before I install my engine/trans tommorrow. They listed 2. One was early with 2 places on the bottom and one late with 2 place plus a small straight tube. Mine is a 67 with the early design on it now. It looks original but who knows. How do I determine the correct one? By the build date of the car? Thanks

If your car is the late style it will have a return line to the tank. If you look along the frame rail you will see three lines (one brake, one fuel feed, and one fuel return). Also, the fuel tank sending unit will have two lines instead of one. If it is the early style, there will be two lines along the frame rail (one brake and one fuel feed), and only one line on the fuel tank sending unit. -Jesse

Er, Mine was a early model 67, Born on date was Oct. 66.
I have both lines.....But the kid is correct. I would recommend the Holley high flow pumps. More gas, more power........ Check the tank, do you have two nipples? If not then all you need is the feed line. My return line sat dormant for years.

My 67, an early build, Sep 66, has two lines on the sending unit, but the vent line goes to the fuel filter, not the fuel pump. What sucks is that a new sending unit without the vent is around $60 while the one with the vent is $129.

Is it possible that the difference between early and late styles is that the early style has the vent going to the fuel filter and the late style has the vent going to the fuel pump? This would mean that all 67's have a sending unit with the vent tube?

My vent tube was on the filler neck. One feed line and one return line.
I have since added a electic pump, and I ran a AN line from the tank and the pump, then to the carb. I got a new tank and sending unit this spring and the tank had the vent tube on te neck just like my old one. My sending unit, only has one nipple this time. Everything is working just fine so far....

Would a Dec. 66 build date be considered early or late? I have an all-original '67 HO car and will look at the sending unit next time I have the car at the house (it's garaged a couple of towns away).
