Question Brother-in-law's 350

- Brother-in-law's Chevy 350 -
I am looking into this matter for my brother-in-law. He had a chevy 350 rebuilt 40 over. The car starts and runs, but after about 5 min it is so loaded with fuel it will hardly idle. I pinched off his fuel line and the car idled smoother. I looked into the carb when he shut it off and it was FULL of gas ! The carb he has on the car is the one from the original engine (quadrajet), so he assumes the quad is okay. He also has a new 600 Edelbrock and gets the same results. The fuel pump is new (stock flow). The other thing is it seems only to load on the drivers side of the car. Passenger side exhaust seems okay. The drivers side exhaust you can touch the inside of the tailpipe and come out with a finger full of gas !! Pass. side clear !! He just has dual exhaust out no Y or x or h pipes of any sort. Drivers side will blow light blue smoke, but does not smell like oil. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tom D.

Maybe try a Fuel pressure regulator. Maybe the floats are bad and not floating? On two carbs that would be rare. Unless you didnt buy either one brand new. Then maybe a better chance of that. How good are you with adjusting carbs? Maybe buy a Carb specific book to help you better understand how things need to be adjusted?
I know I need to buy one I dont know squat about carbs and I should know alot more!
All I know is where the Air fuel mixture screws and the Idle screw is and the choke. Pretty much any More than that and Im at a loss.

I don't know squat about the Quadrajets, but the Quad worked fine on his other engine. As far as the Edelbrock carb I know it pretty well and all the calibrations are dead on ... I think he has more issues than just fuel pressure and floats, One side of his engine is burning okay and the other is loading up. Just strange. I feel bad for him he just wants to drive his car.
