I think some people on here need to read the post and think before we post! (MYSELF INCLUDED) I just need to vent, I posted items for free and am getting hammered (NOW) with emails (which was the way I said to answer) about the items when they went so fast, what do you want they were FREE, am I to deliver them too? (I had that request) Some know some don't, I blew my engine at the norwalk track rental in 2004, my car is still sitting, I have only worked 7 months since last august I talked to a builder about a new shortblock (on here) but I cant afford it yet. SO I was looking for some kind of drop in engine so I could at least enjoy my formula. Did I find one NO. was I looking for a freebe? NO, If I had the $$$$ some of the items I was giving away free may have been used for a rebuild, I guess those that want the free stuff have never been strapped money wise? (if they can complain about missing out on the item) anyway bottom line is my car is still sitting, looks great for shows, but a hole in the block and several in the oil pan.And I try to give away FREE! stuff and get hammered? what's up with that? to be fare there were a few PM's that were very ready to come get everything, but it was already gone when I was able to get to the PM's (you know who you are) and I will email those few before I trash anything.(don't email me now or PM me asking to contact you .NOT! happening, I have more items more than just pontiac I was going to list 4 sale.as in a new dewalt compressor, a vat 40, and other items, but now I'm not sure, sorry this is soo long but I am a bit hot at the moment.

A VAT 40 should fetch $200-$350 depending on condition.
If I am getting free stuff and saw I was getting a good deal (like free 670 heads), I would usually try to offer some money to the seller, especially if they are strapped for cash. What goes around, comes around.

I have to ask, if you're strapped for cash why did'nt you sell the stuff instead of giving it away? Obviously there were people on this board who wanted your "stuff" and putting a price tag on "stuff" tends to weed out the ungrateful whinners.

On another note, Free is free and first is first. People have a hard time accepting those two concepts. I feel for your aggrivation over all of the bit*hin' that you are getting because you offered the forum community a boon.

Too bad you didn't just live down the street from me. I have a 400 that runs that came in my car that I would let you borrow for a while, but being that you are a distance from me, it makes it impractical because I dont want to chase the motor around the states...I think.

Keep your thought process about giving things away for free, but be limited in who you offer these parts to. IE only to people who are going to use them not sell them. Sounds easier than it is.

Thes parts were never about the cash, I'm not that strapped but these part's were more about getting them out of my small a$$ garage and I thought (dumb me) that mayme some members could use them instead of me putting them in the dumpster. my dumb a$$ all it did was make problems for me... I guess free stuff really is not free? But since there MUST be a pontiac engine in production (that I dont know about) I was wrong in offering parts....(block,crank,rods,pistons,exh manifolds,intakes,starters,ect )for FREE I am the bad guy, thats fine as I'm going to work now and I am not even looking up whats in my truck now, It's going in the dumpster. I used to really like this site, now I am almost ready to say GOODbye........I offer items fo free and get S$IT.......................bite me

Jim - go fishing, or whatever soothes your nerves. The people that frequent these forums obviously CAN read or they would not have been able to email you for the free stuff. Unfortunately, it seems there are always those who ignore the terms, or think the terms do not apply to them.

Fortunately, for every one of the above, there are normally at least ten decent folk, who should have thanked you profusely for free stuff. However, it can be hard to remember this when you have just had the 3rd ingrate in a row!

Have dealt with the public in sales long enough now that nothing surprises me; including the idiot that called me on my home number at 2:00 A.M. on a Monday morning a few years ago from the west coast wanting to ask a question. He didn't want to buy anything, just ask a question.

Like I said, go fishing, and relax. Things will get better. Unfortunately, we can do nothing about the rude people.

Jon you are right, BUT most that are pissed and have NOW! sent an email sent a PM from the start. (which I cannot get from work? hmn reason I typed email me???) can they read????? and sorry but free S$IT is that FREE!!!!!!!! I am not listing any other FREE items, If you live close try EMAILING!!!!! yes emailing me otherwise in the next day or so many other items are getting trashed, seems better for me , I guess the hobby don't need extra parts, shame on ME

I guess some peopel think that "Free Lunch" also includes a ride to and from the cafeteria....too bad.

The word "free" can start a feeding frenzy sometimes...and other times it breeds suspicion ("why is this free?").

In hind sight I guess you should have put a small price on the items and that might have alliviated some of your anguish.

You will notice that I live a long way from you and didn't email 'cause I can read and noted that you were not going to ship....see not all forum members are illiterate or rude. :D

That is certainly a great thing that you did. But you just kinda went about it the wrong way. Some people are going to be really salty when they find out they missed out on a good deal, especially something for free. But that's no excuse for them to get angry at the person gracious enough to offer them up.

You could have just made a post only in the for sale section instead of posting it in the lobby. You certainly wouldn't have had a problem unloading the stuff and might as well try to keep it on the down low rather then getting tons of requests for the parts from anxious people.

But listing a price on them would have helped you out alot. Price the stuff from $5-$25, so that you get a little something and you thin the herd of takers. And then you're still being very generous.

Danny I know, I'm not going anywere I was more than a bit hot yesterday, and today is amother day. I did not junk the stuff in the truck just unloaded it at work so I have room to go thru it, I guess those items will sell for a buck or 2 to avoid this, thanks guys, Jim

I know the bottom side only too well and unfortunately nothing is for free you pay for it one way or the other you and i know this but there are takers and thats all they are good for. most people are idiots dumb as a stump .

if you have some stuff you want to get rid of put a reasonable price on it and if someone comes along that needs a hand then you will be better able to help them, a pay it foward thing .

you might check with your ISP to see if you can have multiple e-mail addreesses and do all your swaping on that andresses

i have had a bad run of luck myself and have been to the piont where i threw out 99% of my sh!t it got better and now its getting bad again but it will hopefully get better again its a roller coaster ride not always fun
