Default 8.2 I know not again

I am fairly new here and have quick question regarding the 8.2.
I have a 8.2 BOP rear which has aftermarket axles and a T/A cover. Actually the rear is disassembled and the parts came with it.

Two things I do not do are rears and tranny's so forgive what might be a stupid question

Given that it has the bolt in upgraded axles, T/A cover, I would add a Eaton or? posi and new gears....What would be the weak point in the rear compared to the 8.5 without the above?

Combo puts out real 485ftlbs but will probably never see slicks. Maybe T/A STREET STRIP TIRE??

Anybody running a similar combo???? Thanks

The diameter of the pinion gear would be a good candidate for the new weak link now IMHO...

1.438" 25 spline pinion for the 8.2" vs. 1.626" 30 spline pinion for the 8.5".

I used to run my 8.2 w/410 gears/limited slip. Car was running low 12 @ 111 MPH. It broke a factory axle axle after 60 or 70 passes. I replaced the axles, put a T/A cover on it and ran it for another 50 passes or so. It held up, but I replaced it with a 12-bolt.

If you stay away from slicks, it should hold up, since it will spin easily. Make sure you set it up properly, no rear will hold up, unless it shimmed to spec...

I'm probably playing with fire here, but I'm using a similar set-up to yours. '67 8.2 BOP rear, Moser axles, Auburn posi & 3.90 gears. I'm also running a 10.5 slick. I spray a 150 shot as soon as it gets moving, as a shot at launch spins the tires, and kills the 60'. Fastest pass so far, 10.51 @ 128. I believe the weight of my car is what is saving me right now, 3100lbs with driver. I'm trying to decide on building an 8.5, or Ferd 9", I have both waiting in the wings. I'm also using the TA cover.
