I ordered the interior kit from PY and I've stripped one seat down to the springs and have some questions.

Where can I get burlap pad replacements? The PY catalog doesn't carry it.

Do I really need it in the first place? I'm going with new foam cushions.

I thought about using some old packing blankets cut to shape to replace the burlap. Do you think the blankets will a good enough and hold up?

Any books out there that show how do this with out tossing everything in the trash.

I did my seats (66 GTO) a few years ago. I bought new burlap at the local fabric store. It's well worth it to have everything new. I think I paid a couple bucks for enough to do them all.

Good luck with the covers. Mine turned out great (my first time trying it) and really wasn't that difficult. But I must admit I poked quite a few holes in my fingertips with the hog rings before I was done. Just take your time, take lots of pictures so you can get them back together the right way, and like most stuff, walk away for the evening if you get frustrated.

I did my seats this year and bought burlap from a fabric store
Get a GOOD SET of Hog ring plires (this is so you will have feeling in your hands by the end of the day) and an extra set of hands (one set to hold and another to set hogrings) If you can set the covers in the sun to soften them up if the sun is not avalible use a hairdryer this will also aid in setting hogrings(soft leather)

Doesn't the burlap have some wire weaved into it along with some wadding? It's been a couple of weeks since I pulled it apart and the memory is fogged. I still have one seat together to use as referance though.

I plan on using a electric oil heater to soften them up.

A buddy of mine, who use to work in an upholstry shop, helped me with mine and he recommended using some cheep vinyl material. It firmed up the spring set a little and worked fine.

Any durable material will work in place of the burlap - prevents thesprings from digging into the foam. Just go to a fabric store. I would also recommend getting some extra foam while you are there. You can glue pieces of foam to the new seat buns as necessary to create and even tighter sculpted fit. In addition to new seat buns I would also STRONGLY recommend new seat springs (at least for the bottoms). My new springs were dramatically stiffer than my old springs, and make a huge difference in the feal of the seat when sitting on it.
