Default 66 Lemans

I bought a 66 Lemans which has a chev 400 in it. My question is, it sits very low in the back of the motor and on quite an angle. The mounts on the frame look to be standard chevy I think. Is there actually any difference from the stock pontiac frame mounts? Anyway it is also using solid motor mounts like Moroso or one of the aftermarket ones. The whole setup engine and trans are about straight in line with the driveshaft. For drag racing is that a good or bad thing? It appears to me like the engine trans needs to go back maybe an inch or two and up in the back. As it is, everything fits fine. What motor mounts should be used?

Thanks Harold

use chevy small block ones, not the pontiac ones. pontiac ones won't bolt to chevy. get rid of solid mounts as the rubber ones sit lower in the front.

There are 2 different height Chevy motor mounts, 2242 is the short non interlock style and 2283 is a tall interlock. The difference is about 5/8" in height. There is also a width spacing at the legs to drop down over the frame mount. 2267 is a wide short interlock mount. All the numbers listed are Anchor/Doan and should be able to be interchanged by your local parts store.

Ok thanks 67Post I am actually using solid mounts. As far as I can tell since the front of the motor cannot go much lower due to the pan that the back needs to go up. Possibly the trans crossmember isn't the right height. Seems it's all the same as Chevelle but I'm not sure.
