non baffled side port. I actually found a vacuum attachment that has the exact screw spacing I can use to suction for the Shop Vac. I would think though the baffled one would be better to decrease larger media getting sucked up. But then the other hole media might blast out without a baffle.

That's the exact same cabinet I bought about 2 years ago. I just inserted the 2" flexible hose for my shop vac into the hole on the left side and went to town. By far, it was worth the money. Probably the best Harbor Freight tool I ever bought.

Order yourself a bunch of tear offs because you'll need them.

This one wasn't even in the catalog, but was at the local outlet. It's larger by alot and only for a little more than the other table tops. I'm going to add some handles on either side to make it easier to carry.

How's the EFI project?

Yeah, they quit carrying it shortly after I bought mine and I haven't seen one in our local store for more than a year now. But like you said, it's larger than any of the other models for about the same cost.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that you need to make sure to recaulk the seams inside the cabinet before you use it. I also had to replace the door gasket because it was so poorly installed. Not a big deal, but those little gaps will lead to lots of sand on your bench top. I also bought a 1' neon light and velcro'd it to the inside top of the cabinet. Make sure to put a switch on the outside of the cabinet as the grit will foul one on the inside.

The EFI project is coming along swell. I updated my website today in fact. I spent yesterday tuning the idle and no-load conditions up to about 3,500 rpm. I've got it about 95% there but want to refine it a bit more. I'm thinking of leaving the engine in the car and skipping a follow-up dyno session as I'm busier than ever and want to get the car done.

What purpose does the vacuum connector serve for a blast cabinet? Just curious as I am just learning about them...

I noticed your thread over the weekend and decided to head for Harbor Freight today to see if by chance they had a cabinet like the one you purchased. Sure enough, they have them in stock. But wait...theres more. I go to check out and they ring it up for $99.00. I asked if by chance I had the wrong box, and she said no, that the Cabinet is on sale and the $99.00 price is correct! Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it into the shop without my wife seeing that I bought more stuff for myself just before Christmas!

Whats the model make on the blast cabinet. I'm looking for an inexpensive unit that I can mount on a mobile stand. I'm looking at the small table top one from TP Tools but the one listed here looks pretty nice for $124...

Here is a tip I used on my blast cabinet. On one of the hose conections, I drilled a 3/8 inch hole thru both parts (where the sections overlap. I can then adjust the amount of suction in my cabinet by twisting the hose, and opening or closing the holes. It doesn't suck as much media in that way.

Good idea...Gary. Thats the same problem I am having with same model in home shop.
Also...
Did any of you use the plastic sheets to cover the window on inside? Mine came with two sheets and had a adhesvive area around permemiter but wouldnt stick so I took it off.
Woder if window will fog up bad with light use? Guess a new one can be istalled with out much cost should it come to that.

If your question was regarding the Harbor Freight unit, it seems to be their own brand which is Central Pneumatic. I could not find another name on the cabinet. I think the model number might be 42202, but don't quote me on that. Good Luck,

By not using the glass shield you will be blasting the inside of the glass as your beads bounce off the metal piece your cleaning.
I get my supply from WalMart, material dept, cut it to size, use 3M two side tape (found at the better office supply stores). Some days I'm sitting in front blasting almost all day.
I put the dust collector in the storage barn to get the noise level down in the shop. Works quite well this way. Some times I use a personal walk man to pass the time.

I think it is very important to caulk the inside joints, as Hammered said above.

I didn't do it and fine dust leaks out all over. I will caulk mine before the next time I use it.
