Default Suggestions for Exterior Colors w Parchment Interior

Hello All,

I have a 67 Firebird Convertible and am ready to begin the paint and body phase. I redid the interior in parchment and am looking for recommendations (and pics) on exterior colors that look good with this interior color. I am really interested in seeing pics, espcially of any "late model colors". As you know, on a convertible the "compatibility" or the interior/exterior colors is just that much more noticeable. The 67 and 69 parchment is a bit more cream colored (with a metallic gold fleck sheen), as opposed to the 68 "pearl" parchment is is a more white/pearl sheen.

Thanks!

How about one of the oranges used on the new GMs? You might also go after one of the muted greens. Otherwise stick with something stock. I painted my car a saphire blue and wanted to go with a white interior but the parchment does not go well with this color IMO.

I love some of the newer oranges (like Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic on the new Vettes), but I'd stick with something a little more stock. Not sure if it was a Firebird color in '67 but Tyrol Blue looks amazing with Parchment.

Question

I have a 66 GTO. I would love to see a paint chip or sample of the colors that they never did put on a GTO.

Famthom turquoise Ditzler # 13331

Copper Blaze Ditzler # 60497

Ramada Bronze Ditzler # 222803

May be one of theses colors would look good...Before I paint I'm going to check these colore out. Mine was originally Marina Turquoise with turquoise interior. So I interested in what the Famthom Turquoise looks like. I'm not too sure if I like the original color...

I tried to locate a sample but no luck.

Anthony

Anthony - check out this thread:

http://216.178.81.108/forums/showthr...=457012&page=2

Andre posted a scan of the special order '66 colors. I think the scan may be a bit dark, as a couple of the darker colors (including Fathom Turquoise) look almost black on my monitor).

Just out of curiosity, what makes you say they never put these colors on a GTO?

There are some gorgeous oranges on the '05s from the big three. Take a look at a chip book and then take a look at cars painted that color.

I think they called in 'Coronado Gold' in the Firebird, same as 'Tiger Gold' in the 65-66 GTO's. It would be a killer with the parchment interior on your Firebird.

Dude if you are not looking for stock but want to stand above the rest, I would recommend a Rootbeer Brown. You can play with an underlay to expose the gold flake only in sunlight to enhance to color combo with the parchment interior. If you only lived closer, I have all the paint chip books but here is an idea. You do not have to use them since thier colors can also be mixed in PPG but why not order a House of Kolor custom paint chip book just to see the colors in different hues and pearls. Like I said you do not need to order from them but now you can find a color to have mixed in PPG for alot less.

Gold.

Lighter colors will make the interior color "seem" lighter and darker colors will bring out the darker brownish side.

Take a swatch to a paint store and compare it to paint chips. That's what I did on my 70 LeMans Sport 'vert. I came up with a Gold to go with my Sandalwood seats, black carpet and black top. Door panels are Sandalwood with black carpet inserts.

Default colors wiht parchment

My Alpine Blue 68 GTO has Parchment Int as well... I think that the code D Alpine Blue looks really good as does code U which is Warwick Blue... a little darker than the Alpine Blue.
The Dark red metallic looks really good with parchment as well.
The metallic colors in a medium shade really seem to accent the parchment the best... the real light colors wash it out and make it seem like a wedding car. The real dark colors accent it WAY too much... the interior looks out of place... The medium blues and Greens look the best with parchment in MHO.

Default Montero Red w/ White Pearl Hardtop

My 1966 Grand Prix with Montero Red factory paint and White Pearl Hardtop. It has the parchment interior and the white pearl hardtop ties it in well. Car is a bit dusty though. :0)

My '68 Firebird vert is Solar Red with Parchment. As you have noted the 68 Parchment is different than 67 and 69. The top is white.

I like the look. I think the correct red for '67 is Regimental Red. The other color that I like is the Liberty Blue. I don't think it's a Firebird color, but it looks sweet on the GTO's.

I've always like the look of candy burgandy w/white interiors. You know the color, it's the one that anyone who did a "custom" car in the 80's used.

Default How about linden green

Its a correct color for 67. Have only seen one. I used dupont paint and it seems a little darker than a few other cars. There is very few GTO's this color . 67 GTO HO 4 speed bench seat dog dishes red lines red pin strip Johnny Lightning classic gold car . Green is my least favorite color but love my linden green GTO.
