Default Very Nice New Driveshaft

Check this guy out, he built me a nice driveshaft for $245 to my door with 1350 U-Joints and a new T400 yoke. It's .125 thick aluminum and was perfectly balanced WITHOUT ANY WEIGHTS (He says 1 out of 4 shafts he makes doesn't need weights). His user name is Ujointmaster on Ebay, here's a link to one of his actions for a driveshaft.

sharkbite,
Got any pictures? What are you putting it in? I need one for a 1965 GTO that I am converting from auto to stick.

It's going in a 72 GTO and seems to fit very well, he made it to the perfect length. I'll take some photos tonight and post them.

Racerboy, if you are putting a muncie in, you should be good with your original.

From what I've seen Heavyweight vehicles, 3400 lbs or greater, with clutches or trans brakes should seriously consider steel driveshafts for total reliability. I kind of think of a driveshaft like a fuse, I'd rather break it then thrash my rearend or transmission. Of course you don't want some piece of junk that snaps with a 400-500 hp motor.

Don't know weight of Brian's 'Bird..2nd gen gutted out. 3,400-3,600 lbs maybe. Don't know if he was using a brake, actually he shreaded two shafts ! On street tires I guess you will be OK...Good luck.....it is nice looking.

I email the guy who made it and ask him to log in and answer some questions, not sure if he will or not.
On another note, Denny's Driveshafts offers a twist and tear lifetime guaranty on there steel shafts. They cost around $350-$450, a bit more then I wanted to spend, but maybe a good investment for Brian's 'Bird. This is what they said
“We stand behind all of our Heavy Duty driveshafts....so remember "IF YOU CAN POSSIBLY TWIST OUR TUBING OR BREAK OUR WELDS...WE'LL REPLACE IT FREE!!! That’s the kind of quality and confidence you won’t find elsewhere” Here’s there web address http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/index.html

This is what the guy how made it said

The tubing for these shafts can handle upwards of 1100 hp, it is .125" wall and drawn tubing, no seams , the best available anywhere. The overall rating is based on the ujoint series and type you use. I will put the Forged Dana Spicer in any extreme duty shafts and between the smallest series and the largest(1350, like yours) the ujoints can handle 500hp(1310) and up to 1000hp or more(1350) depending on how much torque the shaft will see. I think that would cover almost everyone out there though.

thanks for the info, I am considering purchasing a shaft for my 69 which will see strip action this summer, these shafts look great but I'm worried about durability because aluminum 'work-hardens' and becomes brittle the more it flexes . Was Mr. Baker using one of these shafts? thanks

Not sure who made Brian Baker's shaft. Maybe you can PM him..They did stand behind the shaft when it broke.........but he went back to a steel one after destroying shaft #2 at Norwalk.. Not bad mouthing these shafts.......but
