Default Help with a dead-beat in New Hampshire

Hi all,

Well, I bought a 70 GTO, 4-speed, A/C (sight unseen - mistake) from this loser in New Hampshire. Claimed the car was "all numbers matching".. Turns out, the engine is a restamp, tranny is for a '68 something, and its got a Chevy 10 bolt rear.

He tells me all the electrics work... when the car arrives.... NO wipers, radio, horn, fan, A/C clutch engagement, generator light, brake light, reverse lights.

So, I start driving the car.. and I ask him "is this car running a thermostat.. it runs cold"... he replies "Yup definitely"... I take the upper hose off. .and yeah, you guessed it... no thermostat.

Anyway, partly my fault for buying a car sight unseen and trusting this loser.

Anyway, the other sore point is when the car arrived, all the lower A/C duct work is missing.. he says "oh yeah, I have it, I'll send it to you".. That was a month ago.. and nothing. (The car sat in his garage for 2 months after I bought it, you'd think he'd have time to remember the duct work and drop it in the car - but no).

If anyone lives near Swanzey New Hampshire, and wants to help me extract at least my A/C ducts from this dead-beat.. it sure would be a help.

Thanks,
Fred

p.s.- I'm still trying to determine if he's stupid, deceptive, or possibly a combination of both.

Oh yeah, and he's trying to sell a white judge... which I now here is a big POS, so watch out.

How bout a name?
You should have had it inspected by someone from the board.
As for your duct work. your most likely SOL.
He has your money and that the end in his mind.

getmygoat,
I'm not too far from this guy. Maybe I can setup an "appointment".
PM me.

I think it would be great to have a new topic called "local inpections for fellow PY'ers". This new topic could be useful for non-Pontiac purchase assistance too (pickups, boats, etc...) as many of us are buying out of state.

Ccass? Moderators?

Ditto.

I'm not looking to buy, but I can certainly check some cars out for anyone.

Been there, done that, got the t shirt. Good luck to you buddy. It's much harder to take legal action against a private seller than a dealer. Read this, i know EXACTLY how you feel. :sorry: :(
